Individual Returns · 1040 Prep

Every price, published. No surprises when the invoice shows up.

Simple returns, self-employment income, rental properties, investment sales, multiple states — priced up front so you know exactly what you're paying before you send me anything.

Published Pricing

What your return actually costs.

Most CPA firms in Los Angeles won't put a number on their website. I will — it's the fastest way to show you're not overpaying, and it filters out the guesswork before we even talk.

Service Price Notes
Simple 1040 (W-2 only, standard deduction) $350 The straightforward return — one or more W-2s, no itemizing. Federal and California included.
Itemized 1040 (Schedule A) $475 Mortgage interest, charitable giving, medical, and other itemized deductions.
Schedule C (self-employed / gig work) $650 Freelance, contractor, or gig income — the entry point if you're also thinking about bookkeeping.
Schedule D (investments / capital gains) +$95 Add-on to a base return — stock sales, crypto, other capital gains.
Schedule E (rental income) +$225 / property Real estate is my professional background — depreciation, passive losses, and cost basis handled properly.
Multi-state filing +$150 / state Each state beyond California — common for remote workers and anyone who moved mid-year.
Prior-year amended return $300 Flat fee, separate from current-year prep.
Late / disorganized paperwork +$150 Flat surcharge if documents arrive scattered or incomplete — keeps turnaround fair for everyone.
How to read this table: the base price is your starting point (simple, itemized, or Schedule C), and the add-ons stack on top of it. A landlord with one rental property and a stock sale who itemizes, for example, lands around $475 + $225 + $95 = $795 — before we've had a single conversation about what you'd actually pay a bigger firm for the same return.

Beyond Filing

Tax planning — so April isn't a surprise.

Filing looks backward at a year that's already over. Planning looks forward, while there's still time to do something about the number.

Year-round tax planning — check in before decisions, not after
Quarterly estimated tax calculations, so you're not guessing what to send the IRS
Entity selection guidance — sole prop, LLC, or S-corp, and when switching actually saves money
Planning is billed separately from return prep — usually a flat fee for a planning session, or added to an ongoing bookkeeping engagement. Ask about tax planning →
Tax-Smart Financial Planning

The money decisions that change your tax bill.

Most big financial moves have a tax answer hiding inside them. This is planning built around your return: what to do, when to do it, and what it will cost you in tax.

Traditional vs. Roth contributions, and whether a Roth conversion makes sense this year
Capital gains timing, tax-loss harvesting, and which accounts to hold which investments in
Stock options, RSUs, and ESPP shares: when the tax hits and how to plan around it
Buying or selling a home or rental: exclusions, depreciation recapture, and 1031 exchanges
Retirement withdrawals and Social Security timing from a tax perspective
Cash-flow and savings planning around variable or self-employment income
Planning session: $350 flat, including a written summary of recommendations. Included at no extra charge for bookkeeping clients. Book a planning session →
What this isn't: I'm not a registered investment adviser. I won't recommend specific stocks, funds, or other securities, or manage your portfolio. The guidance here is tax and financial planning tied to your return.
